My husband and I tried this place and have been hooked ever since! They don't have one in Miami, but we make it a point to stop at the ones in Jax, Orlando, St.Augustine, and Delray. The pretzels with beer sauce is a MUST. The service is phenomenal. Our pizza came un-noticeably smaller than the regular large size, and the manager came and gave us an extra pizza. We were SO confused! Such a nice gesture, and really, we hadn't even noticed that our pizza was any smaller! LOL. Overall, ALWAYS an amazing experience.

I'm originally from NJ so any pizza review would be unfair. However I would recommend this establishment for families and anyone looking for a casual spacious restaurant/bar that has good service and fresh food. About 15 flat screens make it Ideal to watch sporting events. Mellow Mushroom is a chain that started in Atlanta and has been a welcome addition to Jax Beach community.

The pizza is super tasty and the dough is what really makes the pizza better than other pizzas. If you find yourself close by its a must to stop and eat here.

Very happening pizza and sports bar featuring very good pizza! Loud, active environment good for meeting friends in the bar or family pizza night out. Outstanding Gluten-free pizza! Wait can take some time so pick-up another good option

We went for dinner and a few beers with friends last night. Ordered the drunken fun guys as an appetizer since it was suggested by our waitress, Amanda. They were good! Our friends ordered a Thai pizza and we ordered a red skin potato pizza. Our potato pizza was good (reminded me of a baked potato with all the toppings) but the Thai pizza was better. It smelled and tasted just like Thai food! Was just spicy enough too. The only reason for not adding the fifth star - although she was attentive, Amanda did not seem very happy to be our waitress. I hope she was just having a bad day or something. We will be going back soon to try other pizzas!

Really good pizza and beer selection. Speaking from the point of view of a Chicagoan who has had a few beers and pizzas.

Mellow atmosphere. Good food. Gluten free food. Tons of beers on draft and full bar. Loud, but trying to find a quiet atmosphere good for families is hard to find in Jax Beach. If you're looking for a family friendly atmosphere go to the Southside location.

We tried this mellow mushroom with friends after loving all other mellow mushrooms locations. After being seated inside and realizing we couldn't hear let alone have a conversation we immediately moved outside. If this had not been an option we would have left, it was so loud in there, with music, tv and people. Once outside it was a nice setting and the staff were super friendly. Sign up for the melow mushroom club dab receive free appetizer. We got the spinach dip which was delicious. The pizza on the other hand was a huge let down. Having tried almost all the pizzas on the menu at other locations I picked one of my favorites and did 1/2 & 1/2. The Maui wowy was disgusting, I took one bite and didn't touch the rest. Had it not been for the other half, I would have starved. The other wasn't much better, the philosophers pie was just flavorless and super dry. Overall I will not be going back to this location for pizza.

Best Mellow Mushroom we've been to yet. Clean, open, airy, sports bar feel with lots of large flat screens. Unlike Savannah or Winter Park locations, this JaxBeach location had a very friendly staff and a wonderful craft beer selection. Gluten Free vegan pie was delish. Had a pretty good idea to expect a three star pizza place when pulling into the parking lot. Was pleasantly surprised as they earned their fourth and fifth stars. Excellent dining experience.

This place is AMAZING! They have a large list of creative pizzas, the option to create your own unique pizza, an insane amount of beers on draft, cool music (often live), and TVs everywhere for watching a game! What's not to like? The servers are always friendly! I love that you can see the kitchen and watch the pizzas being hand tossed. The patio is awesome! I wish more places had such a large outdoor seating area! I am not a huge fan of chain restaurants, but this one shines above your typical chain!

This is my favorite Mellow in Jacksonville. The layout is awesome here (huge bar in the center of the restaurant and an outdoor area). The staff definitely adopts the beach feel ... They are good and attentive but definitely laid back and fun. Don't think the pizza is the only good thing here - it's definitely worth branching out and trying other items. I've even come for brunch (duh) and that was enjoyable. The sandwiches are on par and original. And obviously the pizza is good if you like it on the thicker, doughy side. I like their innovative combination of flavors. This is also a great place to come just to drink, hang out with friends, or watch some sports. Warning, the parking can be a bitch, especially now that Salt Life's on the other side. Another negative I could see is this location might be less kid friendly than others, unless you come at the right time... It's loud and boozy. But overall, I'm happy to see mellow mushroom hold it's own with all of these other restaurants pop up.

Gret ambiance and bound to get better. Awesome Tap beer assortment. 9" shitake pizza was soggy, thick and served with too many cold plates. Mozzarella cheese was good on tomatoes that were tasteless.

Fun, funky pizza at the beach. Lots of crazy combinations and raucous live music. Totally groovy pizza joint.

For Jacksonville pizza, it does not get much better. I have not had bad slice or experience at MM. They always have reasonably drink offers and the menu goes beyond the pizza (salads and pretzels are always a good choice). Also, MM has great events with weekly bingo, trivia and a running club. Overall, I have nothing bad to say other than I wish they would take reservations or call ahead for small/normal sized groups since it gets busy during peak hours.

The last time I was there, I had the Holy Shitake Pizza, and it was FANTASTIC! Loved it!

Wednesday night, close to midnight, you need a place to meet good friends for some food and a couple drinks...... not very many late night food options. You could go to Kickbacks if you're near downtown, but that's a haul from the beach. We went there last night at about 11:45 pm. Band was playing, not crowded but there were people hanging out, service was extremely friendly, and the food and drink were as could as I've had at Mellow. I have become very stingy with my stars, but I just can't help but give Mellow Mushroom 4 stars. I don't know about the other ones, but this Mellow at the beach is legit. Good job Mellow, I'll definitely be back.

Youthful, fun, exciting atmosphere no matter what time on what day you come in. Plenty of menu items, not just pizza. Their pizza is top notch, yes, but they feature so many different types of delicious foods. I'm a craft beer junkie, so having so many different types on draft truly makes evenings at Mellow Mushroom enjoyable. There is nothing quite like warm pizza and cold beer and Mellow Mushroom takes care of that combo like nobody else. You'll find live bands and lots of exciting events throughout the year at this Jax Beach location. If you're going to live in Northeast Florida, Jax Beach is the place to be...and enjoying quality meals makes the experience even better.

Ordered for delivery 3 times and one pick up. Have yet to eat inside. Each time, the pizza was great! I love, love, love pizza. I have tried about 5 places in Jacksonville and none have had me want to come back. I love the chewy wheat crust. My hubs though didn't appreciate the cost for a medium. But I told him with what I have had tried...I'd gladly pay for the deliciousness they serve here. My only reservation was the garlic/olive oil base on the Philosopher's Pie. Not enough garlic. If it's going to be garlic, it should reek of it. It was a bit dry, so maybe that was what felt absent. Otherwise, during my stay--this is my spot for a slice!

The crust is the best I've had in Jax. I've tried several different pizzas & never been disappointed with them. My favorite sweet treat is the cinammon pretzels & honey. One day I'll learn to order it as dessert & not as an appetizer, but it's just soo good I can't help myself. Hot pizza & cold beer. Can you give me anything better?

Original Review Date: 12/11/2011 Great atmosphere, pizza, and beers on tap. Relaxed lunches, after work crowd makes for a good happy hour, and live music for late night. They even make menu items gluten free and vegan for you, upon request.

I love the pizza at Mellow. Our server was very attentive as well, which was impressive because it was July 4th. I would return to try the brunch on the weekends.

I feel like the majority of my reviews have been sour lately but nothing ticks me off more than horrible customer service. And recently that's all we've been receiving. This particular visit we came with a party of 8. The high top table wasn't big enough so our waiter offered to slide another one over to make a super table. The table he intended to slide over was dirty so he left to get a rag and cleaner...or so we thought. Instead he went over to a group of female employees and proceeded to throw wadded napkins and bits of paper at them. At one point I thought he was coming back but a girl called him back, total fake out After 10 minutes of standing I asked the bartender for a rag and cleaner. Maybe at Mellow customers often ask for cleaning supplies because it was handed to me, no questions asked & no offer to help. But anyhow, we cleaned and moved the table ourselves with no acknowledgement from our waiter or any staff. Next time I'll remember to bring my cut-offs and big boobs

Good pizza selection, great decor, great atmosphere, and wonderful beer selection. I also really like their meatball sub. Tried the caesar pizza once and it was a bit weird eating a caesar salad as a pizza. Fun to try different things, but I'm not sure I'd recommend that to other people. Other then that they all seem to be excellent selections.

Hubby and I were hankering for a pizza so off we went towards Jax Beach to try another one of the beach's pizza restaurants. Mellow Mushroom Pizza has a wonderfully large new building with outside patio dining. Its not crowded like alot of the other restaurants. By the looks of all of the beers on tap (there are 40), we think this establishment gets crowded with alot of beach-goers, locals and tourists alike. We arrived at @11am, and were greeted by a handful of smiling hostesses. Ashley provided us with a tall table next to the large full on-tap bar. On Sunday, we think that was a good time to arrive because within the next 30 minutes, just about every table, including the BUS was full. Yes, there is a full sized bus with dinner seating, in the restaurant! We were hungry enough to order an appetizer~~you must try the Capri Salad. Is it a salad? Is it an appetizer? All we know that it came with large slices of alternating tomatoes and mozzarella wheel with dark green leafy mixed greens in the center, all topped with balsamic vinegarette drizzle. (see the photo?) That was a great starter! With a fairly large menu to choose from, we opted to build our own pie with artichoke hearts, pepperoni and mushroom on a red base. Wow!!! Must be something in their crust because this pizza crust is awesome! Not only was the flavor just right, but as you bite into the crust, it has an outer 'crunch' as if its been fried (but it's not) and doughy in the center. Not too thick, not too thin, but just right! Hubby and I gobbled up the slices and Ashley had to bring us a TOGO box just so we'll have 3 slices to take home. I'd say for a large, we made a good effort to finish it off. "Dessert?" Ashley asked. Although there were several to choose from, we couldn't eat another thing. Clean restaurant, good service, good food~~what more can you ask for? PS: Try a Samuel Adams Summer Ale, only available this time of year.

I have nothing but good things to say about Mellow Mushroom, and the Jacksonville Beach location is definitely the place to be, no matter what time of day it is. On the weekends before 1 p.m. you can score unlimited mimosas, and pretty much any night of the week you can stop by for live music and a fun atmosphere with friendly faces and a huge selection of craft beers. Obviously this is also the place to go for pizza, and the House Special is a favorite of mine and my husband's (I just get my half without a couple of the toppings that I'm not fond of). If I could afford to eat out every night and could do so without a negative impact on my waistline, there isn't much that would keep me away from Mellow!

Favorite pizza in Jacksonville! Mellow Mushroom consistently delivers piping hot pies with unique and super-fresh ingredients. Their menu is highly eclectic with pizzas like the Kosmic Karma; made with pesto, spinach, feta and tomatoes, and the Thai Dye; with cucumbers, onions, curry chicken, and sweet thai chili sauce. They also have a host of hoagies, salads and appetizers to choose from. The Spinach and Artichoke dip in particular is outstanding. Piping hot and oh, so cheesy, this dip is served with crispy pita chips but don't think for a second that there is anything healthy about it. No way! But it's worth the splurge, I promise. Mellow also has oodles of craft beer on draft, 40+ to be exact, not to mention a full bar and bartenders in the know about the latest shot crazes and trendy cocktails. The beach location features live music four or five nights a week and serves a full menu til 2 am, making it one of the only spots in the area where you can grab a meal and a beer past midnight. That right there is enough to warrant five stars from this yelper!

Having moved here after spending a year in NYC, my expectations for good pizza are high. Mellow Mushroom didn't live up to the hype. A few of us met there to watch the gators play and enjoy some pizza and beverages. Deferring to a friend who'd been there multiple times in the past, we ordered a large pizza with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. It came out hot and it looked great. The cheese was perfectly melted and strings of cheese pulled as we tried to separate the slices, which is always a good sign. The crust was spectacular and it put the sauce and other ingredients to shame. The meat and mushrooms didn't stand up to the crust and the sauce was rather bland. After getting over the disappointment, I thought that perhaps I should've ordered one of the tried and true favorites there before I completely cross Mellow Mushroom off of my list. But, for now, it goes to the bottom of the list. If it weren't for the crust, I would've given this place two stars.

Went there for the first time several weeks ago and it was awesome! Been to several Mellow Mushrooms and I believe this is the best! The ambience, location and food are fantastic! I go to Jax Beach 6-7 times a year and will always stop in! The décor is so cool. There is a bus inside that has tables in it to sit at. The crowd was a mixture of beach locals & hipsters. My pizza was the best I've ever had at any MM, but maybe that's partly due to the location? At Jax Beach, so everything tastes a little better!

So my first visit to Mellow was actually last week. Having lived in Jacksonville for 2 years prior to my visit back this year I, along with everyone else, was surprised Id never been here. While the intention of my visit was not pizza based, I am glad I went. My good friend, John Earle plays music at all the various Mellow Mushroom Restaurants in Jacksonville and Tuesday is his night at the one at the beach. So quite obviously then, music was wonderful. If you love live, acoustic wonderfulness, I recommend checking out his myspace (search John Earle under music) and visiting one of the many places around Jax he plays on various days of the week. As far as the food, my friend and I shared the bruschetta. It was good but a little crunchy for my taste. I did, however, like that they gave you A LOT of tomatoes because usually you dont get near enough. I also got a single slice of cheese pizza because I was starving. At $1.99, it was a decent size and actually tasted really good. The crust was INCREDIBLE with the parmesan cheese baked on. I usually would turn my nose up at such a plain pizza but with a very limited budget, $1.99 tasted just fine. Overall, the place is nice, the food I had was good and the music is wonderful.

Yum! Good pizza and great beer selection!!! I'm kind of a tried and true pizza person so I stuck with a traditional selection that I made myself. The hubby tried the Greek pizza and I had a taste - very yummy and unique. The traditional pizza was also very good. I really like their crust - not too thick.

I don't know how many times I have been here. I love this place! It's a great place to have Sunday brunch, watch a game, go to after the beach, listen to bands late night, party on Halloween, host a birthday dinner.... Everything is good from the hummus to the salads to the pizzas. They also have a good wine list (better than any other pizza place). I love watching football here, because they have so many T.V.'s and they play different games.

Good food at a reasonable price. Does that sound like your kind of place? Well let's slow down here. To be honest we didn't dine in so I'm no help there. We needed the good food at a reasonable price part. Spent the day in St. Augistine. Everyone way tired, hot and cranky. We ordered on the way home, stopped and Mom went in and picked it up. We took it back to the house we rented. It was piping HOT. Came right out of the oven we raced home and it was good. I personally like a thin crus that is crisp. This was not, but the kids and Mom said they liked it. Don't get me wrong it was good. But I'm a crisp crust man. We got the 18 inch meat lovers and the 18 inch deluxe. They were both good. Cheese was nice but the toppings were not consistent, some pieces had a bunch of toppings others had little.. All in all a decent pizza. We had a few pieces left over and took them today for lunch on the beach. Good pizza not the best

I live pretty close to this location so I go at least once every few weeks. The food is great and they have a great beer selection. It becomes a cool night spot with live music, plenty of TVs, an outside area and a laid back feel. It gets pretty crowded. I haven't had more one or two bad nights here but one happened a few weeks ago. I was there with a party of 7 or so people and we got with the hostess and requested a table. It was taking awhile but we weren't in a rush and were being patient. More time goes by, we check in to make sure they didn't skip us or something. They assure us they're going to set us up at a bingo table once it's cleared. A group of people takes that table a few minutes later. We let the hostesses know that someone took the table. They act like they had known and were working on clearing another table. The same thing happened again. Annoying. We waited close to 45 minutes just to sit on a night that it really wasn't that busy and the hostesses were kind of rude about the whole ordeal. Another fail was when my waitress was excessively flirting with a group of surf bros instead of doing her job, which seems to happen commonly here... anywho, since I have been so many times I don't really hold those encounters against Mellow Mushroom but figured it was worth mentioning.

I met up with a couple friends for an early happy hour and nosh here. We sat outside and that was the best choice. Nice outdoor space! We had a table to ourselves for hours. Crowd gets a little younger later on in the night (college-age), but also the local surfer dudes tend to hang here which works for me! Ended up inside as my friend's brother bartends there and we drank for free. Then ran into an old high school friend and caught up over some beers. Instantly fell in love with MM. Was a good night! To be repeated...

Ice cold beer - mmm! This spot does it right. Sit at the bar and have a cold one. For apps - try the meatballs. I didn't give it a five star because their pizza is a little expensive - but delicious.

Me and the girlfriend go here all the time. We love sitting at the bar. They have GREAT beer selections, and will allow you to taste most of their beers. The bartenders are very friendly. It's also nice that they have multiple TV's for gameday! :p The kitchen has been great from my experience. Once they accidentally burnt our pizza and they made us a whole new one without us even having to say anything. Honestly, we didn't even know it was burnt to begin with and we ended up with 2 pizza's (of course, after we got the non-burnt one we could tell the difference). The pizza's are always very tasty though, and they have plenty of options. Definitely try the Thai pizza!

Food is always good but service is generally lacking and delivery times horrible. Always seemed short staffed. People answering phones always distracted or not paying attention resulting in a lot of repeated information. Took an hour and a half to get delivery, uggh!

Good place to grab good quality pizza. The slices are sold individually after 10pm and are literally a qtr of a pie. Great value and great foods. Not necessarily a spot to network for business professionals but a good place to relax and unwind after work.

For a chain, this was a fun one. Architecture blen of starbucks, mcdonald's arches and someone on drugs in a fun way - bikes on the wall with tires that go round when a button on the wall near the bathrooms is pushed. Inside there is a bus that you can sit in! Great place for kids and fun. Pizza was good too.

We do not have a mellow mushroom where I live so I was pretty excited when I came upon this Mellow in Jax and finally got to try it. Definately lived up to the high expectations that I had. Kind of like a hippy decor on the inside and the menu definately has something for everyone. They have sandwiches too and though I didn't try one they looked pretty good.

  • Trey H.

Mellow? Negatron. Scene? Affirmative. Don't go here if it looks busy and you're hungry. You'll end up watching your pizza fall on the ground and then having some douchebag creepster manager, taking a short break from perving out on all the talent he's hired, trip on his way to your table cause he's still a pervert, and come and offer you a small discount on your tab because it's taking so long. How about offering a WAAAAY better experience next time... buy me a beer or something... but don't think a discount is going to relinquish any derogatory remarks from those watching you sweat trying to make it through the night w/ out going into the bathroom and floggin' the dolphin. People go here to be seen. Food and service is apparently secondary. The beer specials are pretty good, giving them two stars.

  • Shannon P.

Two custom pizzas baked brilliantly with great tasting whole wheat crusts (not soggy, too thin or too thick). The wait for take-out was 20 minutes and had we chosen to eaten in, the place was lively, comfortable and modern. The beer selection for what was on tap was perfect for the MR and I: Rogue dead Guy & Magic Hat *favourite*. IF we are back in town, we shall return.

  • Stephen V.

Here's the thing. The pizza is average at best. I ordered a small personal sized pizza, what I got was an eight inch pie. Seven of those inches was crust. I have had some really nice sandwiches there though. I think one was a chicken pesto sub that was absolutely out of this world. That is the good . The atmosphere (and let's be honest that is the attraction here) is pretty cool if not overly contrived. The service has been less than good, well less than poor. The company seems content on hiring kids off the streets. Yeah, I know he's a white dude with dreads, ooh, but can he get my beer here before it gets warm? I just don't care about the popularity or cool themes that are prevalent in restaurants at the beach. I'm all about the food, and Mellow's food leaves me feeling blue. (sorry about the last sentence I couldn't help myself).

I absolutely love pizza, and drink beer as though it's my last day on earth. With this being said, I love Mellow Mushroom, as they have a damn good pizza, and an extensive selection of GOOD beers. I've frequented a plethora of Mellow Mushrooms, so I guess that I'm well versed when it comes to the menu, etc. Cosmetically, this location, by far, is the nicest I've seen. The bar is huge, has several Tv's, and most importantly, well staffed! The service here was definitely better than most locations I've dined at, and the food (as always) is great. Seriously, I don't know if they put crack in their crust, but this stuff is damn addictive. Creative concoctions for pizza and appetizer options, great beer list, and good service makes this place worth a return visit...or several. Anyone want to invest in a franchise?

Mellow Mushroom is always good and this location didn't disappoint. As with their other locations, the decor was great and the atmosphere really laid back. Our server was excellent and explained in advance that it would be 20-25 minutes for our order. She wasn't wrong - it did take a little time to get our food, but it was worth the wait. Great service and, as always, good food!

This is always a great place to go for some top-notch pizza with unique (and delicious) flavor combinations. My friend and I started with some bruschetta which was good, but nothing to write home about. We decided to split a 14" medium pizza and went with a recommendation from the server for one of their newest additions to the menu. We ate the "Maui Wowie" pizza: ham, pineapple, pesto, banana peppers, bacon, and chicken. It was divine! Great food and a cool, hippie atmosphere...what's not to love?

This new location in Jacksonville Beach is [cosmetically at least] the best one in Duval County. The bar is huge, the murals are cool, and the place looks and feels super clean. I've always liked the pizza here and they do have some interesting varieties. The Magical Mystery Tour Pizza has pesto, jalepenos, mushrooms and spinach--total deliciousness, man, and pretty far out. The menu has a lot of options as far as salads and sandwiches, and some vegetarian offerings [featuring tempeh and tofu of course... with a name like Mellow Mushroom you had to see that coming, dude], so there is really something for most tastes here. The service is pretty good [relative to Jacksonville Beach, so yeah, not good, but not terrible] and the psychedelic decor gives the place a laid back atmosphere. While this isn't the place I would go looking for best-slice-in-town quality pizza, it is a really fun spot for a casual meal.

Came in to watch the NBA playoffs, a small pizza, wings and drinks. Everything worked out quite nice. Except they had NCAA lacrosse finals on most the tvs. The pizza tasted very much like papa johns, wings were good. Oven baked I think, soft, not dry. Good variety of beer on tap. Waiter service was excellent. There was some raggae band that started playing and forced us to leave because it was not pleasant to listen too. Just sounded like noise. The evening as a whole was nice. They offer free valet but we didn't have trouble finding a spot. It's away from the beach so don't worry about crowds or rowdy drunk idiots. You can deal with that later after coming here for dinner.

The food was ok. The place was very loud. The servers/2 bartenders were hiding, eating behind the bar. It was clear they were enjoying their meal. Would have been nice if they could have eaten before coming to work. The server who waited on me was very attentive and helpful.

For a chain restaurant, I'm impressed! The decor is fun and trippy, and but definitely lacks the coziness one might expect from a place called Mellow Mushroom. This was my first experience with the chain and I was fortunate enough to be able to do it at this new location. Food choices are a great variety. I'm not completely vegetarian, but I appreciated that they offered a Tofu Hoagie. I was in the mood for pizza however, so I tried the Thai Dye Pizza. The name is somewhat suiting as the pizza comes pretty decently multicolored between tomatoes, curried chicken, green basil leaves, etc. It was a turn off to see so much oil on my pizza, but it's somewhat comforting to know that its olive oil. Upon first bite of this pizza, I tasted a wave of deliciousness. The flavors work together really well and its a great creation. If I lived around here, I would definitely consider coming back to Mellow Mushroom.

Plus: Free valet! This is great since this parking lot sucks. Minus: Again with the service! A guy came by and tried to clear my friend's plate before she was done. He put the dirty napkin and straw wrapper on her plate, she said she wasn't done, and he reached his hand back into her salad, pulled the trash out, and set the plate back in front of her. Geez MM - train your people! Still True: Amazing food! (Fun Fact - The white guy riding in the van on the back wall mural is Hunter S. Thompson.)

It seems like a fun place to eat, but I didn't really care for the pizza. I could have saved some money and just ordered someone else's pizza, then I may have enjoyed the taste of the food.

the mellow mushroom turned out to be much better than we expected. they had an excellent beer selection so that put us off to a good start! we shared a dozen hot/jerk wings and we got a medium pizza - half kosmic karma and half buffalo chicken. very tasty! a great place for an easy dinner and beers.

ive always been a fan of mellow & i was pumped to see one opened at the beaches. the pizza is always good -- but realistically, their pizza is kinda overpriced.. but i still go back. my husband loves the funky bbq pizza & i love the caesar salad pizza. making my own salad is awesome too. they are way generous with the avocado & that makes me happy. :) the service is always good -- though they recently let go a friend of mine and i was pretty upset about that. its always pretty loud in there and some of the most ridiculous bunches of people can also be in there as well.. luckily -- my selective hearing works WONDERS. ;) ill always return to mellow -- but ill try to do it during the day so i dont have to hear crappy music.

Love this place. Good service and good food. We esp. Like the subs on French bread, you actually taste the ingredients and not just bread. The pizza has always been great. Just wished they had one in Virginia, but I always come here when I visit Jax Beach.

Went there for the first time with a friend who highly recommended it. The Cajun pizza was delicious. Spicy Old Bay seasoning with shrimp. Yummo! Cool atmosphere, friendly staff, good food, good prices located right on A1A. It was raining the night we went so the patio was empty, but we'll definitely have to come back and take advantage of that soon.

All I have to say is this - 30 beers on tap and handmade pizza dough with awesome toppings! Music was bumping on a Friday night and the bartenders were very friendly. Service was super fast and we really enjoyed our pizza. Good spot to go if you enjoy good pizza and beer.

Similar to Al's, but they have good varieties of whacky pizza flavors. For pure, regular flavored pizza, nearby Milano's is better.

Loved it. Went there originally to watch a March Madness BB game but loved the food and staff so much we went back two other times during our week long vacation plus we ordered a pizza to be delivered to our house. The subs are excellent as is the pizza and we also enjoyed the key-lime pie.

Mellow is what you'd expect of a pizza place with a little extra to offer! With a chill hippie vibe they feature a full bar and full menu to match. During my last visit I tried half a Greek salad and half a portobello sandwich, and highly recommend both! The menu has a variety of vegetarian options and they even offer substitute cheese for vegan dishes!

Trivia night is so loud! Very popular with the college crowd. Pizza takes 35-45 minutes to come out so we had the club on french bread. It was one of the best sandwiches Ive had. It comes alone though--chips are extra. Seriously, throw me a couple chips or a pickle on there to make it feel complete. We also ordered a house salad which was enough to share. The menu lists $2.99 pints for trivia night, but the server said they quit doing that a few nights ago. Then take it off the menu, please. Dont tease me that way! Overall a good meal and a fun time.

I work at a retirement community. I took 15-20 people, we got there about noon. There was a large group of 15 there. The servers and manager got the group seated. They started by getting the drinks then taking our orders. It was only about a 10-15 minute wait and they started bringing out the salads. Then about 10 minutes later the food started coming out. They constantly kept checking to make sure we were OK. The food was hot and fresh and tasted delicious!! Thank you for a wonderful time!!

If I could give zero stars I would. Let me preface, love mellow pizza and food in general. Great beer selection. However, none of this means anything because it's the worst service I've ever had in my life. Consistently. I can think of two occasions of at least fifty where the service hasn't sucked. Now, I work in the service industry and have worked the floor, been a bartender and been a manager for a long time. Never would I feel comfortable giving or allowing the service they give. Busy is irrelevant. If busy is your excuse for poor service then you're just understaffed. Bartenders constantly take shots in front of customers while they are waiting to be served. Classy. However, let me tell you a great story. Fourth of July spent working, because of the lovely service industry. Never once during my shift was I rude to a soul because they came out on a well known drinking holiday. My boyfriend, who also bartends, and I get off of work and jet up to Mellow to grab some slices to go. I understand it was late, 1:20 to be exact, but well within them being open, particularly since they still had a bar full of customers. Slices are ordered promptly, my boyfriend grabs a beer and a shot of tequila and I grab a water to drinking while we're waiting for our takeout. It's fine, we wait, we don't expect food immediately and are appreciative to the fact that we can grab a late night bite. Zero complaints or rushing on our part. Almost 2 am rolls around, and they start, understandably, shutting down the bar. I'm fine with this. Until I get a bus rag thrown on the bar in front of my face. I look up and the bartender is wiping down bottles oblivious to me. I look him, flabbergasted that he would ever do that to a customer, and ask him to check on our slices to go. He says no. I ask if he's joking, he says no. Responds, "does it look like I work here?" I frequent mellow, it's up the road from my house. I know he works here, I see him all the time. I am shocked. At this point my boyfriend intervenes and starts talking to him and I go to the takeout counter to asked for the manager on duty. We get half hearted apologies and brushed off. Disgusting. NEVER EAT AT THIS LOCATION . I know I'm one person and this won't make a difference, but if you see a tall, lanky guy with a man bun behind the bar run the other way. He's abysmal and will ruin your mellow experience forever for you. MANAGEMENT: I know you know who I'm talking about. Get rid of him and make an example so maybe the rest of your staff will straighten up. It's revolting you keep an employee like that on staff.

I mean, Mellow is good and all. They are packed 24/7, which is why I assume this review will never see the light of day (nor will it matter if it does). There is better pizza around. There are better bars around. But when your friends are going to Mellow, you go to Mellow. My gripe with Mellow? I was there on a Thursday a bit back. As beach locals know, after 10pm it is $1 house wine for everybody. On Thursday, I believe the special is all day for the ladies. I got there at 9 with some girls, drank some drafts while I waited, and then ordered a wine about 20 past 10. The server informed me that he "couldn't do the special". When asked why, he said "we are just too busy for that tonight", as if they aren't always busy and that charging me $3 instead of $1 was going to make the difference in making the night manageable. It's not a lot of money, I know that - but as a college student, every dollar counts, and considering there are lots of beach restaurants and bars jockeying for UNF students' attention on Thursdays, I feel zero need to go back to Mellow, on Thursday or any other night for that matter. I won't be back.

I was super disappointed in this Mellow Mushroom. I brought a friend from out of town with the expectation we would have a good time. We had a waiter that was completely absent. My friend requested an unsweetened tea and it took over 15 minutes to arrive. She actually got up to find the waiter and he made very rude comments to her when she commented about how long it took. He visited our table very infrequently. We placed our order and then played another waiting game. After we had been there for over an hour and our food hadn't come out, we asked the waiter where it was and he told us it would be another 20 minutes! We had already been waiting for at least 45 minutes since we had ordered it. One order of wings and two small pizzas hardly constitutes that kind of a wait. I have been to other Mellow Mushrooms and even when they are swamped, they keep it together and get your food in a reasonable amount of time. The place was busy, but not ridiculous by any means. There was no wait and several empty tables. We finally made contact with our server and asked to cancel our order and told him we would rather eat somewhere else, but our waiter didn't listen and hurried to the back and then returned with our checks, saying that the food was going to be out in five minutes. Our food came out shortly after our bill-in to go boxes, which made my boyfriend upset. We had just been told our food would be at least 20 minutes. My boyfriend asked the waitress what the difference was, because it all seemed really conflicting to say we had another 20 minutes and then suddenly have our food out once we complained about the wait. The waiter got quite defensive and said he had to put it in the convection oven so it would be ready, and he couldn't just do that for everybody (I guess he thought he was doing us a favor and we should feel special or something, but by that time we all just wanted to leave). Sooooo....basically we spent over an hour at the mushroom to get to-go boxes. My boyfriend drove over a half hour to meet me and my friend for lunch and all we ended up doing was taking the to-go stuff home and eating there. It was a waste of time and I really expect better. I will not return to this mellow mushroom again. I will stick to the one in Avondale where they actually know how to run a restaurant and the waiters treat customers with more respect. This was a really frustrating experience and I will not go out of my way to visit there again.

Mellow Mushroom in Jax Beach is one of my most favorite places to go eat/drink. I normally stick to ordering hoagies when I go, and they offer half sizes as well, in case you get full easily, which is perfect for me! Their half hoagie prices are about $5 or $6, you can't beat that! My husband likes to order their wings, they come in different size quantities, and all of their sauces are delicious. If you are thinking about trying one of their appetizers, try the drunken fun guys. It is sourdough bread that comes with 4 dipping sauces. Perfect for the munchies. :-) The best part about the bar/restaurant is they offer CRAFT BEER PITCHERS for most of their draft craft beers. I have yet to come across another bar to compete with Mellow Mushroom's selection. They are constantly bringing in new flavors. The service is always stellar! All of the staff is super friendly, managers included. I'd recommend this place to anyone that loves beer, pizza, wings, and hoagies!

The best pizza around. Hands down. Some crazy mixes but happy food every time. Their apps are good as well. Happy hour on weekdays till 7 pm which is great. Not the cheapest around but very yummy. Service is great too.

The pizza is great here but is extremely over priced. The times that I normally go are well past many peoples bedtime so I get to deal with the rowdy drunken crowd but nonetheless my experience was ok. Service was pretty good but again, pizza was overpriced.

Glad to see a Mellow Mushroom on the beach. Hit the spot. Great pizza and salads and not the norm. I'm usually getting a veggie or white pizza slice or 2, or sometimes a whole pizza but its fresh, bread is very good but a lot of crust. Clean, fast service, had the kids with me( big kids) and great meal. Good server- I know is a must so we were lucky but all looked like they were hustling.

This Mellow Mushrooms has the same food as any other Mellow. What I love about this place- and the reason that this is the only Mellow I frequent- is the bottomless Mimosas on weekends. It runs from 11a-2p on Saturday and Sunday. If I ever get diabetes you can blame it on the mass intake of OJ and champagne from this place. I attack them with all the ferocity of an Olympian. They also run specials on Bloody Marys and have a special brunch menu with egg pitas and pizzas with breakfast toppings. Personally I like the regular menu better, but it's worth checking out if you find yourself here on a Sunday morning. They also do live music here on the weekends. Pair that with a great beer list and attentive staff and it's a lot of fun. More fun than I was expecting from a pizza place. The pizza is great. I love the crust, and a small is usually good for two people. Holy Shitaake - add bacon - is my go to order. It's basically a mushroom pizza with garlic aoili that I pile applewood smoked bacon on. Try it out sometime, it's amazing.

Mellow is legit. You know what else is legit? Their bruschetta! Absolutely mind blowing, like a party in your mouth. As for their pizzas, I've had better but theirs is not bad. I would say their phenomenal approach to different pizzas have me mesmerized. Their whimsical atmosphere and decor are also a plus, music and specials are always a deal breaker for me when it comes to picking a dinner spot. Give it a try!

Mellowterranean is the bestest! Ok perhaps I am biased toward the Southside location or perhaps there was really something lacking on my visit last week. to the beaches location last week. I ordered a small Melloterranean, double cut as always, they forgot to double cut it but quickly resolved that issue. However the pizza barely had any toppings! I mean skimpy! The tzatziki sauce on the side was less than half full and not as thick as I am used to from the Southside location. The service was good and the band being inside vs. outside was nice since it was chilly out however; I was just really disappointed with my pizza that I hold to such a high standard. My friend, who is a vegetarian, ordered the Tempeh hoagie. I was sneaking bites of Tempeh off his sandwich all evening, can I say YUMMY?!?! I have never even heard of the stuff but it has a very good, firm texture and full of flavor. I would definitely recommend giving that a try if you are looking to skip the meat!

I ordered two large pizzas and it was almost $50.00 The worst pizza ever. My entire family was disappointed. Don't bother ordering from here if you're use to real pizza from up north. This reminded me of chucky cheese pizza. When I visit Jax again I'll make sure not to order from here.

First, an explanation for why I'm giving this 4/5. If they only served food 3/5. If it was only a bar 5/5. On the food: The pizza is just OK. I'd expect more from a place with "Pizza Bakers" in their name. Maybe it's the crust? Maybe it's the egregious price they charge for additional toppings? I'm not buying it. Lately, I've been ordering from their sandwich menu, which is surprisingly good! Plus you get the added bonus of not arguing over which pizza to get. Pro tip: If you do really like there crust, you can buy the raw dough and make your own pizza at home for a fraction of the price. On the bar: It's great. It literally turns into club Shroom Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. It's insane. But the bartenders handle it all quite well. No one's glass goes dry. But don't come here expecting to have a table waiting for you. Of all the times I've been here, the best experiences have been on Sunday mornings. $10 AYCD mimosas (with purchase of a brunch item). Although I haven't been in awhile, Holly used to take great care of us. And by great care I mean making sure no one's glass is empty. All in all, it's a solid location. 4/5 will drink too much on a Sunday morning again.

The one at the beach is certainly fun - local crowd, college/post college age. Great live music (jam bands). food is excellent as always with all the MM. Mediterranean pizza is my personal favorite, or try the fresh dough pretzels with beer cheese

Not sure what all the fuss is about. Pizza is mediocre although the beer selection was good. Very loud sports bar type atmosphere but no shortage of toddlers and children. Message to young parents - don't bring your kids to the bar.

Last time I went there I had the Bajou Blue, which is one of the tastiest pizzas I've ever had. The andouille sausage and shrimp are just...wow. This time I decided to go a little bit healther and had the Kosmic Karma, gluten free. While it's difficult to surpass the former, for a healthier treat...this one'll do. KOSMIC KARMA Red sauce base with feta and mozzarella cheeses, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and Roma tomatoes with a pesto swirl. BAYOU BLEU Spicy bleu cheese base topped with all natural grilled shrimp and Andouille sausage covered in mozzarella cheese and garnished with chives. I'll make sure to get some pics next time.

I love this Mellow Mushroom, specifically. The bartenders are great! Highly recommend the Peppercinni-back! (with Jameson or 3.50 tullamore dew always on special)!! One of my favorite places to go at night after work or just on a lazy day off. Love mellow and all their late night specials!

Out of the dozen Mellow Mushroom locations I've been to over the past two years this one is the best, by a mile. We stayed on Saturday night after a Georgia win over Florida in the Cocktail Party and while we had to wait 20 minutes, even at 10pm, the service was excellent, the food was great and what an atmosphere! There was a live band playing on Saturday night. The music was awesome and all the servers knew the beer on tap well and made great recommendations. Everything was done well from the hostess, to the waiter and cooks. Great experience. And, the pizza was very tasty. This is the only Mellow Mushroom I've been to where you can ordered wheat crust and it was awesome. In Jacksonsville Beach it's a great place to enjoy a weekend night and a clean, respectful and good crowd.

Bingo on Tuesday nights was awesome! A nice surprise to wonder into! The only reason I knock a star off is the hostess. She told us a 20 minute wait so we went to the bar to get a drink while we waited, she took that as a sign to knock us off the wait list and not give us a table... ended up eating at the bar 30 minutes later when we realized the conclusion she came to. Other than that a good mellow mushroom, parking can be hard. Good beer selection and they had the game on all the main TV's.

Went to Mellow at Jax Beach at 1130pm last night. Pizza was great as usual! The service was good from the server to the hostess. Best seat in the house is always by the kitchen. Love watching the pizza chef tossing the dough!! Great atmosphere! To all the haters who don't like the vibe . You don't get it. And Yes you don't bring little kids to a bar thats why they have takeout!

5 stars to our server who absolutely ruled- Thanks Corey! We went in there for Valentine's evening (three person date-son included) and found that the Jax Beach local is just as good as all the other locations. Free Valet took care of parking which was very helpful on such a busy night. Their was a line but it moved rather quickly, and we were seated in the school bus, at the back, which was fun for our son. My meal was a build your own salad and while all the ingredients were very fresh I have to give special mention to the most delicious vegan cheese I have ever tasted. I didn't partake in any other courses but my son loved his pizza and my wife her calzone. No complaints on any point and it turned out this dinner ,and the cool vibe that came with it, was a nice way to cap a great family Valentines.

Yay YAY Yay love you, MM! I'm never upset with our local Jax Beach Mellow. Happy hours are great, Sundays are great, pizza and snacks are great. Also, if Lindsey is your server she's great too! Bartenders here are witty and quick. If there's ever a time where you know you need a drink but you don't really know what you should start with, these guys are really good about picking for you. If you've read any of my other reviews, you'll learn I'm real indecisive and I like my options just picked for me. This company just has a really good thing going and they know what they're doing when it comes to what the cook and who they hire. Come here for some pizza late night and you can usually catch the guys cooking the pizza with a song and dance. Thanks guys!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
